picture this

Henry and I had an ENTIRE day together today, because of the Passover holiday, so we whiled it away by taking literally hundreds of pictures with my digital camera. Okay, actually Henry took pictures and I surfed the 'net, but whatever! He had a good time, and I was amazed by how much fun he had. And by the fact that we had to replace the camera's batteries TWICE. I think this may be the excuse I need to upgrade to a Rebel--you know, so that he can have my little digital camera. Do you think Wade will go for that?

I have to admire Henry's creativity; he took picures of EVERYTHING and from EVERY angle. He got down under furniture and looked up at the ceiling; he took a picture of my ear (which you won't be seeing) because he thought it was interesting. Right now he's taking close-ups of our sofa. I think my favorites, though, are his self-portraits, because they are so unselfconscious. And I just like the shot of his hair.

We have an odd assortment of toys at our house: several Schleich knights, two Pottery Barn dinosaurs, and probably ten Bounty paper towel rolls. Guess what gets played with the most?

While the boy was photographing every surface in my house (including the hardwood floors, in all their dusty glory), I was reading Parents Like Us, a collaborative blog written by a group of moms and dads, including a high school friend of my brother's. Kim has a daughter Henry's age and twin boys who are Charlie's age (god bless her). These posts in particular made me laugh, for obvious reasons. Go! Read! Enjoy!

Laugh at someone else's kids for a change.

I showed Henry this post, so he could see his pictures, and he said, "Didn't you put up the picture of your EAR? That's a GREAT picture."

We want ear! We want ear! We want ear!

Well, I want ear, anyway.

But that last picture looks like it's straight from the PB Kids catalog. Your house is MUCH more tidy than mine!

These are really cool. That's so cool that he took so many. You may well have a budding photographer on your hands. The Rebel is in order!

We ubgraded to the Rebel for just the reason you mentioned. Hours of entertainment without fear of the "good" digital camera being broken. Hey, a little justification never hurt anyone...

Henry's skills rivals some of that I see on Flickr. Such perspective! Seriously, you need to help him nurture that hobby. It will give you more time to drink.

You canNOT get a Rebel unless I get one, too.

Why?

Because I'm a brat, that's why.

(Great pictures!)

Rebels for everyone!

Actually, those are great pictures. G., who is an Aspie, LOVES to take pictures. We have tons from our vacations of the most interesting things. No ears though. Although my FIL is fond of taking pictures of my MIL's behind. He has passed this trait on to my husband. And there is no need to see ANY of those photos, no sir.

Wow, Henry has quite the artist's eye. I love his self-portraits the best, but the other pictures have excellent composition as well.

No ear shots? Darn...

Oh, there ARE pictures of my ass. Close ups, even! You won't be seeing those, either.

These are great. I'm assuming it is the paper rolls that are played with the most. Speaking from the perspective of a cat owner, no matter how many toys I buy him, he still prefers to play with the little plastic things that attach price tags to clothing (I'm sure they have a name but I can't think of it).

I loved those posts by Kim.

We want ear so much.

And your house looks cool and comfortable and clean.

Not like mine, which is hot and covered with animal hair.
